UpMobility Foundation Connects Two Upstate Nonprofits to Give Utica Youth Exposure to the Arts
We at UpMobility Foundation take pride in making connections between our partner organizations for the greatest possible impact. Recently, we connected the Midtown Utica Community Center (MUCC) and View Arts Center to give a group of Utica, New York youth an opportunity to be immersed in the arts in beautiful Old Forge.
MUCC serves as a community and recreation space for refugee children in Utica. View Arts Center provides art exhibitions, community events, performances and classes from their scenic location in the Adirondacks. Over the course of two days this month, 50 young people associated with MUCC traveled to View Arts Center to participate in pottery sessions, design T-shirts, and tour galleries, among other activities. The success of this event inspired View Arts Center to consider hosting additional, similar events for children. Additionally, UpMobility Foundation is currently in talks with another one of our partner organizations to give another group of Utica young people the chance to spend the day at View Arts Center. We continue to look for ways to build community and forge connections in Upstate New York and beyond. UpMobility Foundation collaborated with the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties in providing funding for this program.
